Privacy/Cookie Policy

In order to comply with GDPR, we're encouraged to have a privacy policy. The following should really all go without saying, but hey...

Website visits

With only one enforced exception (*detailed below), this website does not use cookies, and as website operators, we do not collect any personal data whatsoever from visits to this site.

As per normal practice, our website hosts record visitors' IP addresses. We make no attempt to access or use such data in order to identify any visitor to this site.

Links to external sites

Unlike this site, some external sites we offer links to do use cookies, and it is up to those sites to make their cookie and privacy policies clear. We have no control over, nor can take any responsibility for the policies of any external sites.

Embedded videos from YouTube

Some of our pages contain videos which are embedded from YouTube. We have taken care to use YouTube's “Privacy-enhanced mode” in all such cases, but seemingly it only stops YouTube from sending cookies to your browser until you actually 'interact' with any one of the embedded videos - in other words, click on it. Once you do so, YouTube (or rather Google, who actually owns YouTube) gathers certain information from, and may set cookies on your browser. It appears not to offer the user any clear opportunity to either accept or decline such cookies.

We have no control over, and can take no responsibility for the policies of any external sites. However, for our website users' convenience, here is a link to Google's information page on how it uses this information.

If you're uncomfortable with YouTube's (ie Google's) cookie and privacy policies, we've created our own pop-up, which seeks your explicit consent before you can view those embedded videos.

(*Based on open source code from osano.com, edited to our own specific requirements (as osano.com's cookie consent licence allows), your choice whether to deny or accept these Google cookies will in itself (ironically) incur receipt of a 'consent cookie' from us. This serves no other purpose than to record your consent to, or denial of Google's cookies. Crazy when you consider all this should be Google's obligation, not ours...!)

Users can restrict or block the cookies which are set by YouTube, or indeed any other website. You can do this through your browser settings; the ‘Help’ function within your browser should tell you how.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your machine as well as more general information about cookies.
